You are still being appreciated because you have value. When your value begins to diminish, there would be a decline in appreciation. Never live your life to please the people that do not know your value, it would amount to a waste of time. Rather, live your life on things that add value to you.
When you know your value and make it known, rather than pleasing people, they would be the ones that want to please you.
Channel your energy and resources to creating value around yourself and what you do; because there lies the meaning of life.
Reduce the value that position gives you and increase your personal value.
I have come to discover that when you are in a position, you would be valued by that position.
People are ready to do everything for you, including appreciation and honour, but when you are no longer in that position, you would be amazed at how these same set of people would shift goal post to the next person. This is because your value was as a result of your position.
When you invest in value that is personal and not positional, the reverse is usually the case. People tend to acknowledge that position because of the value you brought to it.
I remembered many years ago while I was working in an organisation, my seat suddenly became the desire and envy of many. They started planning all manner of mischief. I found out and made them understand that what gave the seat they were fighting for is my presence, if they succeed in unseating me, I will leave with the honour and value the position brings.
When I eventually left, the office became stripped of glory and honour and became ordinary.
Invest in your personal value; everything and everywhere you go will reflect your glory not position.
