I remember reading from the book of late Dr Myles Munroe about a wealthy man who decided to commit suicide.
He jumped into the river to drown himself. A young man saw him and decided to jump into the water to rescue him.
They both struggled in the water because the rich man felt his good deed was harm to him.
In his words he said, ” Your good work is like evil to me. What is the essence of life without knowing your purpose”
The young man responded to him, ” you are our role model , we strife and dream to live and be like you all our lives”.
He responded just as the medics approach. ” Let me tell you one thing you should never forget – Truly, I have million dollars of investment, I have the family of my dream and live the life I want to live but what is the essence of living when you don’t know why you are living. DON’T STRIFE TO BE LIKE ME, KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND BE YOURSELF!”
The young watch in awe as the medics took him away.
Success is not about being like someone else, it’s knowing who you are and being yourself.
